We are looking for a Technical Product Lead to oversee and support the testing and servicing of our electric motorcycle and related charging infrastructure in Kenya. The ideal candidate will diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues, train a team of technicians, and ensure products meet the highest performance standards. This role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to manage relationships with early test customers, delivering exceptional experience and gathering valuable feedback for the product development team.

What does the job involve
- Product Support & Technical Expert
- Develop in-depth knowledge of our EV motorcycle, covering mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues, whether mechanical (e.g., brakes, suspension, battery tub), electrical (e.g., wire harness, display, powertrain), or software (e.g., CAN logs, re-flashing, IOT). Maintain organized documentation of these issues and clearly communicate with the product development team on a regular basis.
- Unpack, assemble, and prepare new motorcycles for use, conducting all functional checks.
- Lead preventative maintenance activities by guiding technicians on the team as well as directly performing hands on work. Document all service activities.
- Customer Engagement & Product Testing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for test riders and customers, maintaining open communication channels and strong accountability.
- Manage customer relationships, provide training, and ensure users can operate and maintain motorcycles effectively.
- Track product usage and collect feedback for continuous improvement.
- Plan and conduct field testing to validate product performance and identify areas for enhancement.
- Familiar with use of DAQ equipment such as accelerometers, can loggers GPS trackers and other sensors.
- Workshop & Inventory Management.
- Maintain an organized workshop/service center with all necessary tools and fixtures.
- Monitor spare part usage and inventory levels, ensuring timely reordering and sourcing of parts.
- Coordinate with the supply chain team for local and international part sourcing.
- Training & Team Development.
- Train and support technicians, mechanics, and future technical hires.
- Develop technical documentation and training materials to standardize processes and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical support or field service roles within the automotive, motorcycle, or EV sectors.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools and software, including familiarity with CAN logs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen ability to root-cause complex issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing customer and internal team relationships.
- Ability to travel within the region as needed to support field testing and customer engagement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
