Assistant Vice President, Employee Benefits

We are currently seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Benefits to lead and manage all aspects of employee benefits strategy and administration. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on delivering competitive, cost-effective, and compliant benefits programs that support organizational goals and enhance the employee experience.
Our client is a leading, multi-state healthcare provider operating nearly 200 sites of careincluding hospitals and multispecialty physician practices. With 23,000 employees and over 1,700 employed physicians, our mission is to deliver patient-centered care supported by a strong, community-focused workforce.
What You'll Do:

Lead the strategic design and execution of all core benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, leave management, retirement, and wellness.

Manage vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and performance oversight (TPAs, brokers, carriers, consultants).

Analyze data and trends to assess program effectiveness, support cost management, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Ensure compliance with all applicable benefit-related laws and regulations (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.).

Oversee benefits communications and educational initiatives to drive employee understanding and engagement.

Support integration activities during M&A events and oversee updates to internal and external benefits platforms.

Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including HR, Finance, and Legal to ensure alignment with overall talent strategy.
What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field (required).

10+ years of progressive HR experience, with deep expertise in benefits administration and design.

Strong understanding of compliance issues including ACA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and benefits due diligence during mergers/acquisitions.

Experience managing RFPs and negotiating with benefits vendors.

Familiarity with Lawson HRIS preferred.

Relevant certifications (e.g., CEBS, CBP) are a plus.
