About the Role:
As an English Teacher, you will be instrumental in delivering a dynamic and comprehensive English curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will create an engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking, creative expression, and a deep appreciation for the power of the written word. You will guide students in their exploration of diverse literary genres, develop their analytical skills, and nurture their ability to communicate effectively with clarity and eloquence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver stimulating English lessons that align with the school's rigorous academic standards.
- Foster a love of reading and writing, encouraging students to explore diverse literary texts and develop their own creative voices through various writing styles and genres.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and enhance student engagement.
- Assess and monitor student progress through various methods, providing constructive feedback and individualised support to ensure every student reaches their full potential.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the English curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring.
- Organise and participate in extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, writing workshops, and theatre visits, to enrich the students' learning experience.
- Contribute to the school's vibrant literary culture by participating in school events and initiatives that celebrate the power of language.
Ideal Candidate:
- A genuine passion for English literature and language, with a deep understanding of literary analysis and creative writing techniques.
- A relevant teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and a strong academic background in English literature or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching English at secondary level, ideally within an independent school setting, with a track record of achieving excellent student outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
