About the Role:
- Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following relevant examination specifications.
- Plan and prepare high-quality lessons that cater to the needs of academically gifted students, incorporating diverse literary perspectives and critical theories.
- Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources, including literary analysis, creative writing workshops, debates, and research projects, to enhance student learning.
- Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and support individual learning journeys, fostering a deep understanding of literary concepts and skills.
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature examinations, ensuring they have a strong understanding of assessment criteria and literary scholarship.
- Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and resources, integrating advanced literary concepts and critical theories, and staying abreast of current academic debates.
- Foster a love of literature and language in students, encouraging them to develop their analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, and to appreciate the complexity of language and literature.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment, and to contribute to the wider academic and cultural life of the school.
- Organize and lead literary discussions, debates, and creative writing workshops, promoting intellectual engagement and artistic expression.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature, including advanced literary theory and criticism.
- Demonstrated ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including A-Level.
- Experience in preparing students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate high-achieving students.
- A passion for literature and language and a commitment to fostering literary scholarship and critical thinking.
- Ability to organize and lead literary discussions and creative writing workshops.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
