An exciting and dynamic Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Merton is seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by supporting students who have faced challenges in mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning and achieve their full potential.
Role Highlights:
- Teach inspiring and engaging English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students
- Differentiate and adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students with SEMH and additional learning needs
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students, fostering a supportive learning environment
- Work closely with pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to education
- Encourage students’ personal and academic development through creative and tailored teaching methods
- Contribute to the inclusive and nurturing ethos of the PRU
Experience & Qualifications:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
- A passion for working with students in an alternative provision or PRU setting (experience preferred but not essential)
- Strong behavior management skills and a patient, empathetic approach
- Ability to motivate and inspire students who require additional support
- Enhanced DBS check required
