About the D&T Department:
The Design & Technology department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for fostering students' creativity, innovation, and practical skills. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of D&T specialisms, including graphics, product design, resistant materials, and textiles. We have well-equipped workshops and studios with access to the latest technologies and resources, including computer-aided design software, digital printing equipment, and laser cutters.
About the Role:
- Teach Graphics across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest.
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Guide and support students in using a range of graphic design software and techniques, including illustration, digital imaging, and animation.
- Encourage students to develop their creative thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through design projects.
- Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
- Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Graphics curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
- Foster a love of Graphics in students, encouraging them to explore the world of visual communication and develop their design skills.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Graphics and design education.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS or equivalent.
- Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Graphics and a strong understanding of design principles.
- Demonstrates a passion for teaching Graphics and a commitment to student success.
- Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
- Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for D&T and relevant examination specifications.
- Is proficient in using a range of graphic design software and technologies.
- Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
