Overview
We are seeking a Senior Engineer in Failure Analysis and Component Engineering to spearhead the qualification and validation of electronic components critical to energy technology products. This role ensures component reliability in advanced residential and commercial applications, involving cutting-edge clean energy solutions.
As a key member of the engineering team, you will perform advanced failure analysis (FA), oversee validation processes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and enhance system performance. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability of high-volume energy products.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth FA using advanced tools such as X-rays, cross-sectioning, and microscopy.
- Develop FA methodologies and lead root-cause analysis initiatives.
- Collaborate with external FA labs to scope evaluations, interpret results, and recommend corrective actions.
- Qualify and validate electronic and electromechanical components.
- Work with suppliers and distributors to ensure compliance and performance.
- Develop and execute qualification matrices, Design for Reliability (DFR), and evaluation guidelines.
- Analyze post-test performance and document findings to aid in design and manufacturing improvements.
- Support system-level troubleshooting and test procedures.
- Implement design changes to optimize manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Create comprehensive FA reports and validation documentation.
- Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in electronic component application and validation.
- Proven expertise in physics-based failure mechanisms and advanced FA methodologies.
- Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments, preferably in residential or commercial product development.
- Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and failure modes.
- Expertise in electronic and electromechanical components and their applications.
- Familiarity with PCB design best practices and high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with power electronics and power converters.
- Background in solar, energy storage, or clean energy technologies.
- Proficiency with Altium or similar tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Expertise in analytical tools such as microscopy, radiography, and bench testing.
- Track record of implementing corrective and preventive measures for quality improvement.
