About the Role:
- Deliver engaging and challenging Sociology lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5, including GCSE and A-Level Sociology.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate a variety of sociological theories, research methods, and contemporary social issues, encouraging students to develop their sociological knowledge, understanding, and skills.
- Facilitate student-led research projects, debates, and presentations, encouraging sociological inquiry, analysis, and communication skills.
- Assess student progress through written assignments, projects, presentations, and examinations, providing detailed and constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Sociology curriculum, ensuring it aligns with current sociological scholarship and best practices in sociology education.
- Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as sociology clubs, film screenings, and participation in social research projects, to enhance student learning and provide opportunities for students to explore their interests.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in Sociology or a related social science.
- Extensive experience teaching Sociology to GCSE and A-Level, with a focus on both theoretical and empirical aspects of the subject.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- A passion for fostering a love of sociology and developing sociological skills in young people.
- Knowledge of a wide range of sociological theories, research methods, and contemporary social issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the wider life of the school.
