A brand-new Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Enfield is seeking a creative and dedicated Teacher of Food Technology to join their team from April 2025. This exciting opportunity allows you to be part of a pioneering school, helping students with additional needs develop practical skills in food technology, while fostering independence and confidence in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Role Highlights:
- Full-time, permanent position at a new and innovative SEN school in Enfield
- Teach Food Technology to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of all students
- Use a variety of teaching methods to ensure students are engaged and develop practical skills in food preparation, hygiene, and nutrition
- Support students’ social and life skills through food-based projects, encouraging teamwork, communication, and independence
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCO, and other staff to ensure a holistic approach to student development
- Monitor student progress and provide tailored interventions to support their growth
Experience & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level, ideally with students who have SEN
- Strong understanding of the Food Technology curriculum and the ability to adapt it for students with diverse learning needs
- A passion for food education and using it as a tool for student development
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
- A patient, adaptable, and creative approach to teaching students with additional needs
- Enhanced DBS check required
